We design AI Chat Exporter Pro with privacy first. This policy explains what we collect and why.
Our core privacy principle
Export processing happens locally in your browser. We do not store your conversations on our servers.
Note: If a chat contains math (KaTeX), the extension may use our helper service to render that math. We do not store your chats.
What we don't collect
- Your conversation content
- Personal information
- Browser history
- Login credentials
- Any data from other websites
What we do collect
- Basic usage signals (which features are used most)
- Error details when something breaks (only if you choose to share logs)
- Extension metadata (browser type and extension version)
This data is used to improve reliability and diagnose bugs. It should not include your full chat content.
Support and communication
If you contact support, we use only the information you provide to help resolve your issue.
Data retention
- Anonymous diagnostic data: retained only as long as needed for troubleshooting
- Support messages: retained for follow-up, then deleted when no longer needed
Why We Need These Permissions
We understand that browser extensions requesting multiple permissions can feel invasive. Here is exactly why each permission is required, what it accesses, and what we never do with it.

What we access: Only the exported file content (PDF, DOCX, etc.) you choose to share.
What we DON'T do: We never store your original chats or personal data on this server.

What we access: Only images that are part of the chat conversation you're exporting (not your personal photos or browsing images).
What we DON'T do: We never store, analyze, or reuse these images. They are processed temporarily and discarded.

Extension Permissions Explained
These permissions are required for the extension to function. Here's exactly what each one does:
storage
What it does: Saves your export preferences (format, theme, etc.) locally in your browser.
Why we need it: So you don't have to reconfigure settings every time you use the extension.
What we DON'T do: We never sync or upload your settings anywhere. Everything stays on your device.
scripting
What it does: Allows the extension to run code on supported chat pages to extract content.
Why we need it: To read the chat content and process it for export.
What we DON'T do: We never execute arbitrary code or modify pages beyond what's needed for export.
tabs
What it does: Allows the extension to detect which tab you're on and show the export button only on supported chat pages.
Why we need it: To avoid showing the export button on unrelated websites (like your bank or email).
What we DON'T do: We never track your browsing history or access other tabs.
clipboardWrite
What it does: Allows the extension to copy exported content to your clipboard.
Why we need it: So you can quickly paste exported chats into other apps.
What we DON'T do: We never read your clipboard or access anything you've copied.
